Pedro Almoldovar was born in 1949 in Calzada de Calatrava in the
Castilla la Mancha region of central Spain. Since his film
making debut in the eighties he's written, directed and acted in
more than thirty films and can easily lay claim to the title of
Spain's greatest living film director.
Famed for his use of melodrama and his labyrinthine plots, his
films have never shied away from serious subject matter -
homosexuality, transvestitism and death (particularly death by
AIDS) have all popped ...

What happens when you put out music that distribution companies
won't touch, radio won't play, and only a small percentage of
the population is interested in?
The movie industry has the same problems. The major distributors
won't touch a lot of movies because they don't think there's
enough money in it for them. Remember, the mainstream movie
business literally runs as much on popcorn-sales as
ticket-sales. Big, violent action movies bring in audiences that
eat $7 boxes of popcorn and $4 cups ...

Ever since video game designers were able to put red pixels on
their imaginary characters that had recently deceased, there
have been people crusading against their subversive ways. The
outrage at video games seems to be cyclic, fading very briefly
before exploding into the public eye once more with renewed
frenzy. The controversy seems to have sparked up again in recent
times, with numerous crimes being blamed on the corruptive
influence of video games. There have also been ...

Clint Eastwood should have thanked Italy's film industry when
accepting his second Best Director Oscar for this year's
critically acclaimed Million Dollar Baby, because without the
advent of the Italian-born Spaghetti Western in the 1960s,
Eastwood wouldn't have a career. Italians didn't invent the
Western, but they took an American staple and made it their own.
By 1960, US film production companies had exhausted the
good-guy-fighting-for-justice storyline, and film sales
dwindled. Italian ...

You LOVE watching movies, but don't always have the time to
roundup the family and journey to the local theater, or can
afford to shell out the money for the cost of the tickets and
the criminally priced greasy popcorn. So, you often resort to
renting videos from your local store, but watching them on your
27" TV just doesn't quite have the same impact. Not only is the
picture quality awful, the sound is even worse through those 4"
speakers in your TV set. You've been hearing a lot about ...
